THE 3-6 Dallas Cowboys are due to rebuild their roster as they are one of the laughingstocks of the National Football League.
Jerry Jones claimed to be “all-in” on the Dallas Cowboys winning in 2024, but the longtime owner needs to be all-in on a complete rebuild.

The five-time Super Bowl champion Cowboys are in the middle of one of their worst stretches in franchise history as they’ve lost the first four home games of the campaign – each of the defeats by more than 20-plus points.
Not only are the Cowboys in last place in the NFC East but they will likely lose Dak Prescott for the rest of the year due to an injured hamstring.
Head coach Mike McCarthy’s Cowboys latest game saw them score just two field goals on offense while watching Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts total four touchdowns in an embarrassing 34-6 Week 10 loss.
After winning 12 games in each of the last three seasons, the Cowboys’ free agency moves, or lack thereof, and draft class have let the team’s fans down.
They are among the worst teams in the trenches, stopping the run, and running the football.
But the poor play on both sides of the ball and injury misfortune have caused the Cowboys to be in a position to earn the highest draft pick the franchise has enjoyed in quite some time.
A rebuild would be a wise decision and it can start by moving on from McCarthy, who’s in the final year of his contract.
The move would likely happen after the season as Jones has long shared the belief of not relieving a coach’s duties during a season.
The Cowboys can also let go of pending free agents like All-Pro guard Zack Martin, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, and wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
The team can also release underwhelming players such as offensive tackle Terence Steele, safeties Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson, among others.

Still, the franchise won’t be among the leaders in cap space thanks to the recent contracts of Lamb and Prescott.
And the Cowboys still have to decide on star pass rusher Micah Parsons’s future as he is under contract until the 2025 season.
After the 2024-25 season, Jones and company should look to the draft to find impact and depth players.
The Cowboys could land a top-five selection in the 2025 NFL Draft and can opt to trade back, accumulating more picks to help the roster.

And remember, they are now without a fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft after acquiring wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers earlier this month.
The Cowboys should build around Prescott, Lamb, and Parsons, who has missed five games due to injury this season but remains one of the elite pass rushers in the game.
While his 2024 campaign has been disappointing, Prescott finished second in MVP voting last year and Lamb and Parsons are coming off stellar campaigns.
But everyone else, including 2023 first-team All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland, who has yet to play this season due to a leg fracture, shouldn’t be untouchable.
The Cowboys presently are projected to have $122.6 million in cap space for the 2026 season before rollover cap and signing from this upcoming offseason, per Spotrac.
Don’t hold your breath for a rebuild if you’re a Cowboys fan, however, as the 81-year-old Jones is not patient and is only getting older.
But potentially being in last place for the first time since 2015 should be a wake-up call for Jerry.
The Cowboys should build through the draft and opt for impact depth players next year and the next- a concept that was completely ignored in 2024.
