Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo detailed the special moment she shared with Taylor Swift at the 2025 Grammys in an exclusive interview with E! News at the Critics Choice Awards Feb. 7.

Cynthia Erivo and Taylor Swift might just be taking a getaway car.

The Wicked actress—who is nominated for two Critics Choice Awards at the Feb. 7 ceremony for her work in the Broadway adaptation, including Best Actress and Best Acting Ensemble—reflected on attending the Grammys Feb. 2 and sharing more than just a special moment with the “Lavender Haze” singer.

“She waved me over,” Cynthia exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet Feb. 7. “I was a little late to sit in my seat. She was just like, ‘Come sit with me.’ And I was like, ‘OK, I’ll come sit with you.’”

In addition to sharing a chair during music’s biggest night, Taylor took the time to recreate the viral “Holding Space” meme with the Oscar nominee.

“She grabbed my finger, yes, she did,” Cynthia shared through laughter. “That night just was fun, full stop. That was definitely the best beginning I could possibly have asked for for a night like that.”

But the joy-filled moment with the “Anti-Hero” singer was just the beginning of her memorable moments at the Grammys. Later in the night, Cynthia—whose costar Ariana Grande is also nominated for multiple Critics Choice Awards, including Best Supporting Actress—participated in a special tribute to music legend Quincy Jones, who passed away in November.

“It was the wildest thing ever,” she continued. “It was such an honor to be able to sing for Q. He meant a lot to me. I knew him, and to be able to honor him in that way meant a great deal and I’m just glad that it connected with people.”

She also felt an immense amount of pressure to perform the song “Fly Me to the Moon,” which Quincy helped produce.

“It’s a very big song to sing,” Cynthia explained. “It’s a very big pair of shoes to fill to sing that song. So I was glad that it went [well].”
